Thomasville Georgia Train Depot

Thomasville’s Train Depot played an important part in our history.  In 1869 the completion of the railroad to Albany connected Thomasville to major population center in the Midwest.  This was before travel into Florida was possible, so wealthy Northerners and Midwesterners who enjoyed the rail travel for their winter retreats, began to travel to Thomasville for it’s “dry and resinous atmosphere” and thousands of acres of pine trees, which were promoted for health benefits.
